I’m really excited to be offering RISE UP viewers a back pocket resource for developing athleticism! I’ve been working with teams and individuals in Seattle and all over the world for the last few years, running clinics to help reduce injury and improve performance. And you know what I’ve discovered? It’s not rocket science. You can do it for yourself, and for your team, with a little guidance. My goal with this series was to provide detailed blueprints for using athletic prep and targeted drills to up your game in several key areas: acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, low defensive stance, and top end speed.
Recent research has shown that strength training and proper attention to running/cutting mechanics drastically reduces the incidence of ACL tears, especially in the female population. This season covers all the bases, explaining the exercises you need to be doing to best prepare yourself and/or your team for success while staying healthy. Each episode contains a progression through SMT (Self Manual Therapy), Mobility, Activation and Drills, with the goal being a great practice or track workout using a body primed to move.
If you’ve ever wondered which mobility exercises are most important when you’re working on your first three steps, this is for you. If you want to know what strength training movements are best for improving your change of direction, you have to check this out. And if you need a guide to take you from A to Z, from showing up at the field to taking over the field, let it be RenFitness and RISE UP!
