ALL STAR TOUR STARTS WITH WIN VS RIOT

After the highly successful crowd-funding campaign, the All Star Tour kicked off on Monday with an outrageously exciting game against Seattle Riot. The game featured everything expected of elite women’s ultimate — excellent plays, sweet layouts, and a bunch of hucks. The teams battled it out to universe point and in the end, the All Stars would clinch the win, 15 – 14.

Otherwise a replay of the live stream can be found on Youtube:

RIOT’S LAUREN SADLER MAKES ESPN TOP 10

One of the primary goals of the All Star Tour is to increase awareness about women’s ultimate, and it’s already succeeding. Lauren Sadler, from AU Dirty Ladies, UW Element and Seattle Riot, made a textbook bid during the game against the All Stars and cinched the number nine spot on Sport Center’s top ten.

Here’s the clip from the Seattle Riot Facebook page:

Congrats to our own Lauren Sadler making tonight’s ESPN #SCTop10.

DON’T SAY SORRY

Jen Pashley wrote an article for Skyd Magazine last week that will resonate with all female ultimate players. How many times have you made a mistake on the field and immediately apologized for it? Stop that, she argues:
“Yeah, there are moments where we can use the word ‘sorry’ for things like accidentally tripping someone or even punching them in the face on the follow through of a big huck. We should never be saying sorry for a mistake that we make — it happens. It does not merit the word sorry.”
